TACKLING THE BIG ONES THAT DON’T GET AWAY

A fishing safari  that sees your first catch of the week a fighting 55-pound (25kg) Nile Perch, is  something most anglers only dream about.

But more and more  Australians are heading to Egypt to fish for these Barramundi-like monsters that  are known locally as “buffaloes,” and one who returned home recently told of a  total bag of over forty fish amongst a six-man team – the biggest catch a  whopping 103-pounds (46-plus kilograms.)

Keen amateur Andrew  Warton – an overseas-based Australian Federal Public Service officer – joined  the other international enthusiasts on Lake Nasser as part of a team with fishing  safari company, The African Angler.

Andrew landed his  55-pound Nile Perch at sunset on his first day, lost another  estimated at around 100-pounds (45kg)  the second day, and was with another angler in one of the four safari fishing  boats who landed the biggest catch of the week, a 103-pounder (46kg) on day  four.
