CRUISE THE DERWENT ABOARD A LUXURY YACHT

Set sail for the wide expanses of the Derwent River with a cruise aboard the French-built yacht Helsal IV, which departs daily from Wrest Point.

Sip champagne and sample the finest Tasmanian produce while you explore the magnificent river, keeping your eyes open for dolphins, whales and seals which frequent these waters.

The luxurious interior features leather seating, sleeping berths with their own ensuites and all the comforts to allow a relaxing day on the water.

Enjoy a three hour sojourn on our magnificent river as the yacht cruises past the old Shot Tower and the spectacular Taroona cliffs, before popping the spinnaker and gently tacking up the eastern shore.

The experienced Skipper will regale you with tales of the whaling stations that operated on the Derwent 200 years ago, in a time when Hobart was one of the largest whaling ports in the world.

Cruises depart daily from Wrest Point at 1pm. Cost is $120 per person, and bookings can be made through Wrest Point concierge.

Experience the thrill of competitive racing

Test your skills and feel the adrenaline rush of the big yacht races with a twilight sail aboard the French-built yacht Helsal IV.

Take part in a 50-fleet race, experiencing the thrill of waiting for the countdown to surge ahead from the starting line.

After powering ahead in the 62 foot Helsal IV and rounding the first mark, ease out the sails for the run back to the bottom mark.

Once you cross the finish line, enjoy one of Tasmania’s premium beers while enjoying the post-race celebrations in Wrest Point’s Sports Bar.

And if the race works up your appetite, wander down to Pier One Restaurant and Bar on the waterfront at Wrest Point, and dine overlooking the magnificent Dynamique 62 Helsal IV.

Twilight races are held Wednesday and Thursday evenings in summer, starting January 10. Packages start from $90 per person. Bookings can be made at Wrest Point concierge.

Treat your team to a day out on the water

Expand your team’s horizons and challenge their thought processes with a Corporate Team Building sail aboard Helsal IV.

The French-built 62 foot yacht makes an ideal platform for corporate team-building combined with fun, a powerful teaching combination.

The experienced skipper and crew will show you the ropes, and assist in delivering a memorable and entertaining lesson in the benefits of a team working together.

Hear the skipper and crew’s stories of sailing in the world-famous Sydney to Hobart, a strong test of teamwork and relying on one another.

Helsal IV is available for private functions on request.
