Virgin Atlantic offers double beds to couples

Sir Richard Branson, the Virgin Atlantic boss, is never the one to shy away from competition or candid personal admissions. Following the launch of the Big Bird A380 in Toulouse he announced that his fleet would be customised to have double beds.

Talking about the benefits of flying the super jumbos, six of which he has already ordered for Virgin, Branson assured his customers on Radio 5 Live's breakfast programme, "We are not the sort of airline to bang on lavatory doors when a couple slip in there."

When asked whether he had joined the exclusive Mile High Club he said: "Yes, but it was before Virgin Atlantic, I hasten to add. I was a young man and she was a very lovely lady from Los Angeles."

"We got quite amorous on the flight and one thing led to another as it does-- there's something about air travel."

Referring to the A380 he said: "With double beds and casinos you know you have two ways of getting lucky on Virgin. You can do it on a cruise ship, you can do it at home, why can't you do it in the air?"
