from The Imaginative Traveller

Despite the best efforts of advertising people around the world, some things just don't sound right when translated into English.

Deepresso - Japan
If you are suffering from spontaneous levity and a general unwarranted cheerfulness, you clearly need to get your hands on some of this. Deepresso is actually espresso coffee in a can from Japan. By all accounts it's actually quite nice, with no depressing side-effects despite the name.

Complicated Cake - Taiwan
Unfortunately Complicated Cake doesn't come with any instructions, but you can more or less figure out what to do with it from the picture. It comes in a green packet with an illustration of dainty cups of tea next to a pyramid made from lumps of indigestible-looking cake. Confound and bewilder your tastebuds with Complicated Cake. It's surprisingly easy.

Living Tissue - Korea
This isn't just a box of tissues. This is Living Tissue. This pathologically named brand of paper tissue can be found in Korea and will cater for all your tissue requirements. If you find the plain version of Living Tissue a little dull you can always try the Scent of Woman variety as well.

Cat Smack - Japan
Cat Smack has nothing to do with feline abuse, but is in fact a tasty treat for your favourite pet. I'm assuming Smack is actually a typo from Snack, as there is a seriously cute kitten on the packet showing none of the usual signs of addiction. The great thing about Cat Smack is not just the name, but the way it advertises "Enough Nutrition" on the packet. Only enough? What's wrong with too much?
