- and its four times more affordable for Australians
Not only Australians have a love affair with Bali.
The world's leading travel magazine has also voted "The Island of the Gods" as the World's Best Island destination for 2006.
The international Travel + Leisure magazine - with a
circulation of one million and readership of more than four million -
placed Bali first - again - in its 2006 annual readership survey,
ranking Bali as the ‘World's Best Island' for the fifth consecutive
year.
The US-based publication, which is now published in Australia*, voted
Bali a clear winner on a score of 88.48, ahead of hot competition
such as Kauai and Maui in the Hawaiian Islands (second and third on
86.47 and 86.21) and our own Tasmania on 84.88, finishing ahead
of Hawaii itself (84.72) and Santorini (84.17).
The icing on the cake for Bali was that three of its hotels were rated
among the world's 10 best hotels. These included the Four Seasons
Resort Bali at Sayan the Four Seasons at Jimbaran Bay and the Ritz
Carlton Bali Resort and Spa.
"The value and diversity of Bali have consistently been identified in
Travel and Leisure surveys as factors contributing to the awards,
including natural attractions, activities/sights, restaurants/food,
people and value for money," said Garuda Indonesia's Regional Manager,
South West Pacific, Mr Suranto Yitnopawiro.
"Value is even better for Australians, because Australians are so much
closer to Bali than the typical international reader of Travel and
Leisure - and we have a huge currency bonus too. With a conversion rate
that recently topped 7,000 rupiah to the Australian dollar, visitors
are getting four and five times more value than they did 20 years ago."
The new purchasing power translates into outstanding bargains
throughout the spectrum of accommodation, with Garuda Indonesia
offering astonishingly inexpensive packages under its Bali on ANY
budget programme (www.balionanybudget.com.au)
Australians can stay in hotels, villas and resorts across all price
ranges - right up to the three properties just voted among the best in
the world in packages available under Bali on ANY budget
To top off the luxury experience, Garuda Indonesia's award-winning and
extremely affordable Executive Class is available with Bali on ANY
budget packages from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide
(recommencing April 07), Perth (on some services), Darwin and Auckland.
The airline's modern fleet operates Airbus A330s ex Sydney, Melbourne,
and Brisbane, and Boeing 737-800s and 400 series from Perth and Darwin.
