Most roads go places; Route 66 just is.
It?s a community. The first mile through downtown Chicago is as much your destination as the last mile to Santa Monica pier.
Route 66 is not about concrete and tarmac, it?s about people - their hopes and dreams, their battles won and lost.
If you just want to get to California, take the Interstate Freeways; if you want to get to the heart of the American century, take Route 66.
