Global Survey Votes Virgin Blue The World's Best Again! 09 Feb 06
Virgin
Blue has just been voted the 'World's Top Low Cost Airline' for the
third time in an annual global travel survey carried out amongst
readers of Wanderlust Magazine.
Wanderlust is a magazine focussed on the needs of the adventurous travel consumer of all ages.
Thousands of readers who travelled on more than 300 major airlines,
took part in the survey which asked them to list their "favourites" in
all areas of travel and score each on its merits. The survey is in its
fifth year and based on travels from January to November 2005.
Lyn Hughes, Wanderlust editor-in-chief said, "The Low Cost Airline
category in this year's Wanderlust Travel Awards was the most
competitive yet, with more than 100 different airlines voted for by
over 3,000 increasingly well travelled readers. For Virgin Blue to win
a THIRD time - and when they are not even based in the UK - is a
tremendous accolade. With a satisfaction rating of 83.5%, they clearly
set the standard for low cost airlines."
Virgin Blue topped the polls as the preferred airline with travellers
rating Virgin Blue's unique friendly service and affordable fares as
key reasons for choosing Virgin Blue as their favourite airline in the
world.
Virgin Blue Chief Executive, Brett Godfrey, said, "Winning this award
twice was tremendous but winning it three times is fantastic. We are
extremely proud of our team and the service they have made us famous
for by going above and beyond the call of duty for the benefit of our
Guests."
He continued, "We launched this airline almost six years ago with a
clear mission to open up air travel in the Australian market to
thousands of travellers who had previously been excluded due to a high
priced aviation duopoly. Today, we are proud that we have not only
lowered fares but further developed our original airline to offer a
world-class service that according to the Wanderlust Travellers survey
is second to none."
