TRAVEL AFICIONADOS' LEISURE ESSENTIALS

World's Most Affluent and Influential Travellers Weigh in on Travel Necessities

The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd. recently polled its best customers -- members of its Leaders Club -- to determine what they consider to be the most important leisure travel accessories, activities and amenities. Club members are the most sophisticated, discerning, and widely travelled consumers in the world, and were among the first to resume their normal travel patterns following the various disruptions to international travel in the past three years.

With 80,000 members worldwide, Leaders Club is the company's guest loyalty and recognition program. Members' average individual net worth is in excess of USD 1.66 million, with a median annual income of USD 250,000. Nearly 40% of Leaders Club members are CEOs, company owners or presidents. More than 84% of them hold advanced educational degrees.

Among some of the more unexpected findings:

36% of the respondents take a travel alarm with them.

65% chose a room upgrade as the most appreciated value-added amenity, while only 2% would opt for champagne upon arrival.

Highlighting the importance of the concierge, 26% responded that their preference for dining would be based on a recommendation from the concierge.
