Outrigger brings a little aloha to Ettalong Beach

Around 150 visitors descended upon Ettalong Beach on Monday night November 21, to celebrate the official trade industry launch of the $80M Outrigger Ettalong Beach Resort, on the New South Wales Central Coast.

A special poolside celebration offered guests magical views of Brisbane Water and Lion Island while stirring Hawaiian and Indigenous blessing ceremonies unified the bonds between the two island nations.

The symbolic ceremony linking Outrigger Hotels & Resorts' Hawaiian heritage with its ?second home' of Australia was officiated by Federal Member for Robertson, and Minister for Local Government and Territories, the Hon. Jim Lloyd MP, Outrigger's Vice-President Operations, Cliff Olson and NSW Minister for Gaming and Racing and Minister for Central Coast, Hon. Grant McBride, MP.

The launch celebration of Outrigger Ettalong Beach Resort was almost three years to the date since Multiplex first announced it would construct the resort over the landmark Ettalong Beach War Memorial Club.

Outrigger Ettalong Beach Resort officially opened to the public in June 2005 and has enjoyed healthy occupancy increases over the period along with a growing repeat and referral custom.

Mr Olson said Outrigger was looking forward to becoming a major contributor to the local economy's growth and prosperity.

"Whether it is the local restaurants, tour operators, petrol stations or newsagencies, the spin-off benefits derived from tourism has a positive effect on entire communities," Mr Olson said.  "Not to mention providing local residents and youth with employment and training prospects," he added.

"This is our second resort in New South Wales and will continue expanding our brand throughout the State," Mr Olson said.

"We are also presently pursuing opportunities in Sydney and are focusing out attentions on securing a full-service hotel," Mr Olson said.

Not ruling out a joint venture arrangement, Mr Olson added that if the quality of the product matched a quality location, both hallmarks of Outrigger's growth strategy, the company would seriously consider joint partnership.

Outrigger Ettalong Beach Resort features a mix of 236 studios and suites, and a range of recreational facilities including the new Jhalu Day Spa set to open in mid-December this year.

Sitting eight storeys above the recently refurbished Ettalong Beach War Memorial Club, guests at Outrigger have direct access to the club's dining, conferencing and entertainment facilities.

With contemporary furnishings in olive, taupe and chocolate tones, the majority of suites connect to large, private balconies ideal for entertaining.

Suites feature self-contained facilities including kitchens, laundries and private spa baths, while studios offer more traditional hotel-style accommodation, plus balconies.

Outrigger is Hawaii's largest hotel operator founded in 1947 beside the shores of Waikiki Beach.

The family-owned company's continued growth success, largely organic has been primarily driven by Outrigger's commitment to guest experiences and the quality and location of its resorts, numbering 50 throughout the Pacific and more than 12,000 rooms.

Outrigger presently has another five resorts either under construction or about to start construction in Darwin, Melbourne, Port Douglas, Airlie Beach and Bali, which will boost its regional portfolio to 20 resorts.
