Early bookings save on new Arctic voyages!

In announcing their Arctic Adventures expedition cruise program for 2006 aboard the icebreaker "Kapitan Khlebnikov", Adventure Associates is offering an Early Booking Discount of US$500 per person for all bookings made before 30 November 2005.

All cruise costs include pre and post cruise hotel accommodation in Anchorage, Alaska or Ottawa, Canada and charter flights from those cities to join the ship at the port of embarkation and return.

The Arctic comes alive for just a few short Northern Summer months each year with almost continuous daylight and a rich collection of wildlife. Polar bears, musk ox, walrus, seabirds and many types of whale are some of the species that take advantage of the brief abundance of food during this time. The region is also home to small numbers of isolated, Inuit communities. On some voyages passengers will visit these villages and talk with local artists to learn about their history and cultural traditions.

Russian icebreakers are considered to be among the best and most powerful in the world - and no other ship has navigated great expanses of polar waters than the "Kapitan Khlebnikov". Sailing with just 108 passengers in 54 first class, outside cabins and suites, the ship has a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Onboard helicopters and a fleet of zodiac landing craft ensure passengers get ashore efficiently, safely and as often as conditions allow.

A team of expedition staff - scientists, naturalists and historians - will provide a comprehensive program of lectures, informal briefings and discussions on everything from geography, geology and environmental concerns to ornithology, marine biology and the history of polar exploration.
