Melbourne Food and Wine on the Water in 2006
Lovers of Food and Wine will be drawn to Melbourne’s Docklands in January
2006, when the The Melbourne Food and Wine Festival joins forces with the
Melbourne Stopover of the Volvo Ocean Race 2005 – 2006 to deliver a series of
tantalising food and wine events.
Melbourne Food and Wine on the Water will feature local talent and
international guest chefs in a mouth-watering line-up of food and wine events to
be held at Docklands over three weekends.
Tastes of the Sea at Waterfront City will kick off the
Festival on 21 – 22 January. Taste from a range of the best Victorian seafood
produce prepared on-site by some of Victoria's finest chefs.
Savour the tastes and smells of spices at the second event, the Spice
Market, running from Sunday 5 - Tuesday 7 February in Shed 14 at
Melbourne Docklands.
To round off the palate, sample vintages by some of Victoria's best wineries
at Wine at Waterfront on the final weekend of the Melbourne
Stopover, on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 February. This open-air cellar door will
take over the main piazza at Waterfront City over two fantastic days.
The Melbourne Stopover of the
Volvo Ocean Race runs from 17 January until 12 February 2006, with a range
of festivities being hosted from Waterfront City Race Village in Melbourne
Docklands throughout the four weeks.
This is the first time in the history that the Volvo Ocean Race will stopover
in Melbourne, providing a wonderful and unique opportunity to showcase
Melbourne’s fantastic food, wine, restaurants and chefs to an international
audience. |
