Luxury Safari Camp Voted Best Hotel In South Pacific
Readers of Conde Nast Traveller magazine in the UK have voted Voyages
Longitude 131 the best ‘Overseas Leisure Hotel: Australasia & South Pacific’
in a gala award ceremony overnight in London. The AUD$1800 a night luxury property was also ranked 12th in world overall, beating home Australia which ranked 15th.
“The award recognises the esteem in which Longitude 131 is held the world over,” said Voyages CEO Grant Hunt. “It also caps off Longitude’s regeneration after the wild fire that devastated the property in late 2003.”
Over 20,000 readers of Conde Nast Traveller, one of the world’s most influential travel publications, completed a questionnaire encompassing all aspects of travel. An average mark is calculated to determine an ‘overall satisfaction’ percentage, identifying the very best in travel and tourism across a range of categories.
According to Conde Nast Traveller magazine, the ‘Top 100’ is the best of the best, paying tribute to the overall winners: the highest scorers, irrespective of category.
“To rank 12th overall shows how important properties like Longitude 131 are to Australia’s standing as a luxury travel destination,” said Mr Hunt.
The 8th Conde Nast Traveller Annual Readers’ Awards were held at the prestigious Avenue Restaurant & Bar in London overnight. Voyages Regional General Manager NT & WA Mark Lind and Longitude 131 General Manager Mark Ruff accepted the award.
The UK award sits alongside Voyages Lizard Island which was ranked number 1 in the same category by readers of Travel + Leisure magazine in the USA, another of the world’s pre-eminent travel publications.
