Fiji Salon Culinaire Chef of the Year 2004 & Junior Chef of the Year 2004

The Chefs from Outrigger on the Lagoon ? Fiji devoured competition again at this year?s Fiji Salon Culinaire 2004 awards held yesterday in Nadi, winning 7 Gold, 6 Silver and 6 Bronze medals. Two of the three major titles, Fiji Chef of the Year 2004 and Junior Fiji Chef of the Year 2004, were won convincingly by Outrigger team members.

Already holding the title for 2003, Executive Sous Chef, Shailesh Naidu won Fiji Chef of the Year 2004 confirming his reputation as the most talented Chef in Fiji. Following his lead, team mate Rukshana Ali triumphed in the Junior Chef of the Year 2004 competition, impressing the judges with her exceptional talent at such a young age. Twenty-two year old Rukshana was runner-up in the same category last year.

Executive Chef of Outrigger, Adam Haywood, himself an award winning Chef, was very pleased with the team?s outcome. ?The level of competition was very high. Three Australian National Culinary Olympic Team members were part of the judging panel and all commented how impressed they were with the depth of talent here in Fiji. I am extremely proud of Shailesh, Rukshana and the rest of our talented crew. It really shows the dedication, drive and commitment in our kitchen at present?.
