An Aboriginal Cultural Experience 40,000 years in the Making

Be fascinated by the world’s oldest continuous surviving culture at
Ballarat’s new multi-million dollar world class Aboriginal arts and culture
centre.
The Kirrit Barreet Aboriginal Art Gallery (a place of creation) complex is
situated next to Sovereign Hill and features a museum, café, culture/keeping
place, art gallery, gift shop, multimedia and performance theatres and an
environmental centre.
Aboriginal owned and operated by the local Ballarat community the centre
presents a fascinating discovery and experience of Aboriginal culture -
specifically the unique culture of the Wathaurong tribal group.
Ballarat Aboriginal Cultural Experience tours for individual travellers or
groups operate all year round with pick ups in Melbourne and can include other
major Ballarat attractions including the Ballarat Wildlife Park and Sovereign
Hill.
One of the complex’s major attractions is the art gallery which is home to
high quality authentic arts and crafts painted by community members and artists
from Aboriginal Australia. The gallery can be viewed and purchases can be made
