Enhanced Design Innovation Creates A 'New' Era And Glow For Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney

Winner of 'Most Popular City Hotel' in the Holidays for Couples Reader's Choice Awards, and Best High-Tech Hotel as voted by the industry in the Annual National Hotel Management Awards, Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney continues to 'raise the bar' across 5-star luxury accommodation markets.

Shangri-La International Hotels and Resorts together with globally recognised interior designers, BBGM have joined forces to modernise and tweak the interior of one of Sydney's leading 5-star hotels. In excess of $30 million has been invested into Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney's re-imaging process resulting in a sleek make-over from the Lobby to the very top floor. Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney is an ideal location for both business and pleasure, where attention to detail, in both design and service is the hallmark of this great 5-star gem.

Located in the historic Rocks district, towering above Sydney Harbour, the hotel is a landmark in its own right, perfectly positioned between the Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. All 563 guest-rooms and suites boast Harbour views.

From a guest point of view, the new focal point upon arrival to the hotel is the welcoming Lobby Reception which features individual 'service pods' at the very entrance. All the services one might require upon check-in or check-out are at their finger-tips; Reception, Group Check-in, Guest Relations and Concierge. In fact, the overall ambience of the Lobby Reception has been significantly modernised with enhancements that create a more harmonious, refreshing and grander arrival experience.

The hotel?s Horizon Club Lounge, located on level 30 offers commanding views of Sydney's spectacular harbour through a glass atrium which spans more than eighteen metres high. Personalised check-in and check-out, complimentary breakfast, evening drinks and canapés are just some of the complimentary services offered to Horizon Club guests.

There are 117 Club rooms, suites and specialty suites located on seven of the top floors. Internet connectivity in the Club Lounge is the latest currently available and is also complimentary. The new-look hotel guest rooms and suites offer luxury combined with the very best views of Sydney's famous Harbour. All room and suites now feature stylish modern furnishings which are aesthetically pleasing and functional. Plush duvets, glorious goose-down king pillows, Shangri-La's signature bathroom and bed linen and state of-the-art in-room connectivity.

Cleverly revamped, Level 36 is Sydney's new playground. Comprising of a sophisticated cocktail lounge-bar and a rather chic 105 seat restaurant, both venues offer an innovative twist to relaxation, entertainment and dining. Blu Horizon Bar is the place to sip your choice of cocktail and to make the most of magnificent Sydney sunsets; Altitude Restaurant's executive chef, George Jardine, presents a menu of modern Australian cuisine inspired by European flavours.

Design innovations have made way for a lighter, brighter, interactive dining environment with a focus on 'fresh?' Introducing Café Mix, Shangri-La's novel new 190 seat all-day-dining restaurant. A choice of no less than 25 hot dishes, from around the globe are offered for both lunch and dinner. Mixed aromas of freshly cooked cuisines, and the skills of Café's theatre-chefs working their magic is all a part of the concept. Café Mix has it all; seasonal displays of fresh local produce, seafood, pasta and noodles, a Tandoori oven and sizzling Asian woks - all presented in fresh colourful clusters of cuisine. The true vision of splendour however, is the dessert display which includes for your enjoyment a decadent free-flowing 'chocolate fountain' of dark Belgium chocolate. Open seven days for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Cafe Mix is a fabulous venue to dine in a relaxed, colourful atmosphere for any occasion. A seasonal light fare menu is also available.

Renowned as one of the most luxurious and expensive 5-star hotels ever to be constructed in Australia just over a decade ago, Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney emerges from its $30 million re-imaging process with an immaculate product which is a classic example of modern design innovation.
