Korea Tourism Organization has launched a new guide book entitled ‘Korea, Sparkling 365’. The guide book gives visitors planning a visit to the country 365 sparkling ideas (yes, one for every day of the year) on how to make the most of their visit to the country.

‘Korea, Sparkling 365’ contains all the very best tourism and cultural attractions and destinations including Korea’s World Heritage attractions, best nature destinations, traditional village experiences, health & well-being options, festivals and performances as well as the very best of Korea’s cuisine and shopping secrets.

With this guide-book fully independent travellers can plan their itinerary according to their special interests and make the most of their time in the country. Korea for independent travellers is a very reasonable destination with good transportation, budget accommodation and dining options all readily available.

Despite the recent financial crisis the Korean Won has remained very high against the Australian dollar which is very good news for Australian travellers (950won to A$1 as at 5 December, 2008). It means that there has never been a better time to visit Korea with more value for the Aussie dollar than in previous years.

Budget accommodation in Korea ranges from A$30-A$50 for a double room at good local guest house/inns and an average lunch can cost around A$10 and dinner A$15-$20. Transportation costs are very cheap compared to Australia with a ride on the Seoul subway approx. A$1.

The Seoul City Tourbus (hop on hop off) one day sightseeing tour ticket costs approx A$10 for a full day from 9am – 9pm. There are free walking tours operated by the Seoul Metropolitan Government which are very educational and enjoyable. Admission costs to Royal Palaces and Museums etc. are very low at around A$2-3 a visit.
