Star Clippers' Star Flyer will be based permanently in Tahiti having sailed there from Phuket, Thailand.

The four-masted clipper will operate mainly seven-night cruises to Huahine, Raitea, Taha'a, Bora Bora and Moorea, as well as 10- and 11-night cruises to the Tuamoto atolls of  Rangiroa and Fakarava.

The first three months of 2008 are reported to be already heavily booked with a mix of Australians, Americans, Germans, Italians, Spanish, French and Scandinavians.

Star Flyer carries 170 passengers and her voyage to Tahiti wound through the Indian Ocean, the Mediterranean, across the Atlantic, through the Panama Canal, and halfway across the Pacific Ocean.

On arrival she was greeted by an escort of outrigger canoes and locals who welcomed her to Papeete.

Meanwhile, the two other ships in the Star Clippers fleet, Royal Clipper and Star Clipper, sail to ports in the Mediterranean, Caribbean, and South East Asia's Andaman Sea from Phuket.
