Magical Spring Festival captivates and delights families

Things are set to take a magical turn during the coming weeks at Australia's favourite island holiday resort.

Hamilton Island's famous Spring Festival will kick off on Saturday, September 29, with a myriad of family activities all day, every day during the school holidays.

And one of the highlights this year will be the almost-daily magic shows and the mysterious roaming magician!

At 4.30pm kids will be treated to their very own hour of magical fun, while at 7pm there is a magic show for the whole family. And on days when there is no evening show, there will be a roaming magician delighting crowds in the Marina Village.

All this free, plus an absolute smorgasbord of other free activities including Sushi making, balloon modelling, cocktail mixing and 'dive in' movies, with a new-release movie shown almost every night at 8pm at the main resort pool.

There is also a free 'Kidz Fun Zone', open every day from 4pm to 6pm, with a jumping castle, face painting, games, sand modelling, bocce, beach volleyball, trivia and bingo.

Hamilton Island's general manager Craig Davidson said this year's Spring Festival programme was one of the busiest ever, building on the popularity of previous years' activities.

"We know from previous years how much families enjoy our Spring Festival activities and every year we try and cram in as much fun as we can," he said.

"Hamilton Island has an array of activities all year round - including snorkelling, fishing, tennis, bushwalking, go-karting, beach barbecues and mini golf just to mention a few – but we understand that during school holidays it is important to make sure kids and their parents have an action-packed time. And all the Spring Festival activities are free meaning there's no limit to how much fun you can have!"

The only Spring Festival events where there is a charge are the Beach Breakfast every day from 7am to 10.30am (from $22) and the 'Cook your own BBQ' from 5.30pm to 9pm every evening (from $15), also on the beach. These are in addition to the usual resort meals, with families able to choose from more than 14 food outlets.

For younger children the ever-popular Clownfish Club will be open as normal throughout the school holiday period.

Hamilton Island's Spring Festival runs for two weeks, from Saturday, September 29 to Sunday, October 14.
